Fast Folk: a community of singers and songwriters

Fast Folk: a community of singers and songwritersFor nearly two decades, New York-based Fast Folk Magazine regularly published compilation albums featuring some of the freshest and artful folk music coming out of the Northeast.  More than 100 editions were issued though 1997 when the magazine closed its doors and donated its holdings to the Smithsonian.

Now Smithsonian Folkways Records has released a 34-track retrospective entitled Fast Folk: a community of singers and songwriters.  Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, David Massengill and our own Paul Kaplan are among the artists represented.
