Max Cohen will join May 14 Song & Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the May Pioneer Valley Folklore Society SONG & STORY SWAP.

Max Cohen at the Black Sheep in Amherst on May 14!Friday, May 14, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main St., Amherst, Mass.

Joining us as guest performer will be singer, songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist, Max Cohen. He replaces formerly scheduled guest, Bob Norman, who is unable to appear due to illness.

An accomplished veteran of several folk talent contests, Max was a finalist in the 2001 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition, and won the 1995 Performing Songwriter Competition at Mansfield's Rose Garden Coffeehouse. His impressive fingerwork and musicianship may be heard on two independent recordings; the instrumental Saltwater Color released in 1993, and Places I've gone, People I've Been (1996) which features Max's vocals and songwriting. He has also achieved a reputation as a studio musician, contributing guitar accompaniment to Dar Williams on her The Honesty Room.  Says Guitar Player Magazine of Max's playing, “His relaxed but spirited execution holds true, even at virtuoso speed.”
